GEORGE TOWN, Nov 5 — The Penang DAP launched today a donation drive in aid of residents affected by the torrential storm over the weekend that flooded 80 per cent of the state, leaving behind mud and sludge in thousands of homes.

The "Penang Storm and Flood Relief Fund” seeks to collect cash from the public starting from November 6 until November 15.

DAP Penang secretary Lim Hui Ying said the fund was set up after numerous inquiries by the public who offered to help affected victims.

Well-wishers who want to donate can do so by making cash or cheque payable to DAP Penang at No.3, Jalan Rangoon, Georgetown or bank in to its Maybank account number: 5070-1301-4596.

All donations received will be handed over to the Penang state government at the end of the donation drive, Lim said in a statement.
