KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today raised eyebrows during his budget tabling in Parliament when he praised a certain Wan Azizah, or ‘Kak Wan’, the moniker for Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Najib praised "Kak Wan” for facing difficulties in life and succeeding despite her obstacles, giving the impression that he was referring to the PKR president who was present in the Dewan Rakyat during the tabling.

However, Najib then revealed that he was revealing to an entrepreneur sitting in the observer’s gallery who shared the same name as the Permatang Pauh MP, eliciting laughter among other members of parliament, especially from BN.

Wan Azizah the entrepreneur was a participant in the government’s Amanah Ikhtiar microcredit scheme.

Najib announced today that Amanah Ikhtiar’s allocation for 2018 will increase by RM200 million, taking the total of funding provided under the scheme to RM 2.7 billion.

He said that to date, 400,000 loanees had benefitted from the scheme.
