GEORGE TOWN, Oct 26 — The developer of the Granito@Permai in Tanjung Bungah that was hit by a landslide has started a telephone hotline to provide information to affected buyers.

Taman Sri Bunga Sdn Bhd director Alfred Chew said that the hotline, 04-2272088, will field questions related to the affordable housing project currently suspended for investigations.

"We have set up a hotline specially for this project which will be open from 9am to 5pm daily,” he said in a statement.

Eleven workers were killed when an opposing hill slope collapsed on the Granito@Permai work site on Saturday.

Buyers have expressed concern about the future of the project now under a stop-work order, with some considering seeking refunds.

"As a responsible developer, we strive at providing the best service to purchasers and will ensure that any doubts or concerns of the purchasers are addressed appropriately,” Chew said.

Buyers may also visit the project sales office at The Galleria, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah during office hours for information.

This morning, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng gave the firm one week to meet with the purchasers and address their concerns on the project, saying the state government will intervene otherwise.

The Granito@Permai is an affordable housing project priced below RM400,000 consisting of two blocks of 50-storey building with a total 980 units.
