KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd is recalling 2,814 units of its HR-V 2016 model due to the possibility of the front stabiliser bar breaking under high stress.

In a statement today, Honda Malaysia said all affected customers would be informed by letter, which will include details of the product recall.

It said insufficient temperature control during the production process may result in compromised strength of the stabiliser bar and thus, lead to possible breakage during high stress. 

Breakage of the stabiliser bar might cause the wheels to become unbalanced, resulting in instability during a drive and the car pulling to the left or right.  

"As of today, there are no incidences of crashes or injuries related to this issue reported in Malaysia. 

"Honda Malaysia is taking this preemptive measure to ensure customer safety and sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to those affected,” it said.

All affected front stabiliser bars would be replaced with newly made parts. Honda Malaysia will bear the cost of parts and labour charges related to the recall.
