ALOR SETAR, Oct 11 ― A total of 113 people from 22 families had to be evacuated to three shelters due to flash floods after heavy rains over Kedah today.

A statement from the Kedah Disaster Management Secretariat said three relief centres were opened in the Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu districts to house the evacuees.

Meanwhile, 597 students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Pinang in Alor Setar were asked to to return to their homes after the school became inundated.

The Muda Agricultural Development Authority, meanwhile, in a statement said the water levels at all major waterways under its jurisdiction was still at normal levels despite the heavy rains experienced in the state today. ― Bernama
