KOTA BARU, OCT 8 — The Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto in Kelantan for the coming general election will take into account PAS’ performance in administering the state for the past 27 years, Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said today.

He said the matters to be looked into included promises made by PAS since the party came into power, but yet to be fulfilled.

"The basis is promises made by PAS which have not been fulfilled, especially those involving basic facilities, employment opportunities, problems involving young people, ladang rakyat project, water supply and housing.

"We will also bring up our promises in the BN manifesto for the 13th general election, which is important because the Kelantan people will certainly want to see our capability, like what we can do,” he told reporters after chairing the Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee meeting here today.

Also present were Kelantan Umno deputy liaison chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, Kelantan Umno secretary Datuk Hanafi Mamat, treasurer Tan Sri Mohamad Fatmi Che Salleh and Information chief Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad.

Mustapa said the Kelantan Umno had formed a committee headed by Bachok Umno division leader Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin to draft the manifesto, which would be submitted to party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak in about two weeks.

On the candidates to be fielded as BN candidates in Kelantan for the coming general election, Mustapa, who is International Trade and Industry Minister, said 30 to 40 per cent of them were new faces.

"I have met individually almost all the division heads to discuss the list of candidates and we will choose the best.

"Today is the second stage of screening (of the candidates), with the final stage of screening to be done in a month before the list is submitted to the Umno president,” he added. — Bernama
