KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — A fire that broke out in a shopping mall here this evening forced the immediate evacuations of patrons, The Star reported today.

The local daily claimed the fire was believed to have started on the mall’s lower ground and the area has now been cordoned off.

The police and the fire department have not yet confirmed details on the cause of the fire but said there were no casualties.

Social media has been a buzz with netizens posting pictures and videos showing a smokey scene inside the mall and groups of people outside after being evacuated.

The Star also reported that an announcement was made at 8.05pm saying the situation was under control and shops started reopening awhile later.
