MIRI, July 5 — Dog owners in Miri are advised by the Miri City Council (MCC) to keep their dogs in their own house compounds to avert the risk of rabies or mad dog disease outbreak here.

"All dog owners are reminded not to leave their dogs straying at public areas as it may cause safety and health concerns,” MCC said in a statement, here, today.

As such, MCC will take action by catching stray dogs in public areas if there are complaints from members of the public on the presence of stray dogs in their areas.

"We also provide services to remove the carcass of dead animals such as dogs and cats at public areas.

"As for the rabies outbreak that has killed two siblings in Serian, Samarahan yesterday, the public is advised to follow the guidelines set by the state Local Government and Housing Ministry,” it further said in the statement. — Bernama
