KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 ― The Malaysian Independent Live Fusion Festival is back, set to bring the house down on September 9 at the indoor StarXpo Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
Presented by Mojo Projects, the night promises to be unforgettable with a line-up of superstars such as Vijay Prakash and band, Aalaap Raju, carnatic rock band Agam, Jatayu featuring Sooraj Santosh, Sid Sriram featuring Keba Jeremiah and Leon James.
Vijay, most known for singing Jai Ho of Slumdog Millionaire, will be performing recent chartbusters composed by AR Rahman and other prolific music directors.
Meanwhile, singer and bass player Aalaap Raju will be here with his band for thumping numbers to take the audience to a musical high.
Adding more to the night will be Sooraj Santhosh, an Indian playback singer who sings mainly in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. He is a member of the popular band Masala Coffee that composed Kantha, a Malayalam song with more than five million "likes” on YouTube. This time however, he will be featured with Jatayu, a fresh Carnatic fusion band led by Shylu Ravindran. Expect experimental music and brilliant covers.
Last but not least, Sid Sriram is set to audience the finest melodies he has sung such as Thalli Pogathey and the soothing Yennai Matrum Kadhale with his unique band comprising of superb musicians such as Keba Jeremiah and music director Leon James on keyboard.
Tony Nagamaiah, general manager of Malaysia Major Events, an agency under the Tourism and Culture Ministry, told Malay Mail their aim through the music festival is to promote Malaysia to the region.
"By providing a platform for international artistes as well as the locals, we are making sure the reach of independent live music reaches the community.”
Tony said he is expecting at least 2,000 international tourists to attend the festival and hopes the night will remain as one of the best concerts they have organised so far.
