KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 ― The Pakatan Harapan Opposition pact will organise events to explain to the public about the US State Department's lawsuits to seize assets allegedly linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Federal Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said these will start with a roadshow at Kepala Batas, Penang on July 6 and conclude with a rally in September.

"There are people who think that the DOJ suit is not relevant to them. So we will have to explain the suit to the people,” she said during a press conference today at her office in Parliament.

The series of rallies are among actions proposed by the pact’s new 1MDB Action Committee, which include a call for a special parliamentary sitting for Putrajaya to explain the the suit, and a white paper on the matter.

Dr Wan Azizah then said actions by local law enforcement were not commensurate with those in nine other countries.

Parti Warisan Sabah and Parti Sosialis Malaysia, other opposition parties which are formally part of Pakatan Harapan, will also take part in the roadshows.

Islamist party PAS was also invited to participate, said the PKR president.

"We have sent them a letter, but there has been no response from them,” she said.
