KUANTAN, June 26 — The Pahang Barisan Nasional will field only candidates whom the people like in the next general election, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.

He said likeable candidates who could be fielded had been identified and were being monitored.

"We have to pick candidates whom the people like. We cannot field candidates whom the chairman or leadership like. If we field candidates whom we like but the people do not, then it will be difficult for the party to win the election,” he said to reporters here today.

On the requests by several BN component parties to be allotted certain constituencies in the election, Adnan said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak would make the final decision in the matter.

"I can only give my suggestions. But not to worry, that matter will be determined in the BN spirit of camaderie,” he said, adding that the party machinery was ready for the 14th general election which becomes due in June next year. — Bernama
