LABUAN, June 24 — Local police recorded 43 accidents with four deaths throughout the ‘Ops Selamat’ last year.
"Labuan is not a big island; yet, we still recorded a number of accidents throughout the 15-day operation,” Labuan police chief Supt Adzhar Othman told Bernama after launching Ops Selamat 2017 at the Ferry Terminal here.
He said this year’s operation would focus on at least 18 accident-prone areas on the island including Jalan Tun Mustapha, Jalan Tg Batu/Tg Purun, Jalan Rancha-Rancha, Jalan Patau-Patau, Jalan Pohon Batu, Jalan Bebuloh and Jalan OKK Abdullah.
"What we are aiming during the period is zero accident,” he said. — Bernama
