KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 ― Slow traffic flow was reported at several major highways this evening as more people began to travel back to their respective hometowns for the Aidilfitri celebration expected on Sunday.

A PLUS Malaysia Berhad spokesman said traffic was reported slow at Slim River heading to Sungkai, Bidor to Tapah as well as Tapah to Gopeng due to the heavier volume of traffic.

"Traffic was also slow moving from Kuala Kangsar heading to the Menora Tunnel following an accident at KM260.8 southbound and from Changkat Jering to Taiping due to another accident at KM218.8 northbound.

"Meanwhile in the north, traffic was reported slow moving after Juru toll plaza to Perai.  Traffic volume was expected to build up tonight,” he said when contacted here today.

Meanwhile, a Malaysian High Authority (LLM) spokesman said traffic flow heading to the east coast was slow before the Genting Sempah Rest and Recreation (RnR) area towards Lentang.

"However, traffic flow at the Gombak toll plaza towards to the east as well as East Coast Expressway 1 and 2 is still smooth in both directions,” he said.
