PUTRAJAYA, June 21 ― Tan Sri Isa Samad said today he is unaware of the reason behind his appointment as acting Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman.

The former Umno vice-president explained he had accepted the appointment merely because Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak wanted him there.

"I don't know. I'm only going to SPAD because PM asked me to go,” he told reporters when met outside the MACC headquarters today.

Isa was appointed to the post barely days after he quit as the Felda Global Ventures (FGV) chairman.

The Prime Minister's Office in a statement last week announced Isa's appointment as the acting SPAD chairman after Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar retired.

This comes after multiple corruption allegations were been made against FGV and its top management in recent weeks.
