KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 — Several areas in Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Langat and Petaling Jaya will be facing water supply and water pressure disruptions due to the reduction in the production of treated water at the Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

Air Selangor Group corporate communications chief Amin Lin Abdullah said heavy rain at the WTP area late evening on June 17 had caused high turbidity of raw water in Sungai Langat.

"To ensure treated water from the WTP complies with Health Ministry’s drinking water quality standard, the treated water production had to be slowed down to treat the turbidity in the raw water,” he said in a statement today.

He said 173 areas in Kuala Lumpur would be affected including Desa Tun Razak; Jalan Salak Selatan; Wisma Putra; Jalan Loke Yew; Taman Bukit Seputeh; Taman Pandan Mewah; Taman Koperasi Polis; Taman Desa Aman; Jalan Langgak Golf; Taman Cheras Permata and Taman Koperasi Cuepacs.

Among the affected areas in Hulu Langat are Bandar Tun Hussein Onn; Kawasan Industri Balakong Jaya; Taman Sungai Besi Indah 1, 2 and 3; and Taman Putra Budiman.

In Petaling Jaya, the affected areas include Perumahan Polis Taman Desa Tasik Sungai Besi; Masjid Al-Muqarobin Desa Tasik; PPRT Desa Tasik; Kondominium Midfield Jalan Sungai Besi and Perumahan Tentera Jalan Labuan Bandar Tasek Selatan.

Relief water supply will be delivered via water tankers to the affected areas and consumers may request for relief water supply by sending SMS to 15300 (type Tanker Name and Address). — Bernama
