KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 — The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry has found no foreign plastic substance in the Super Special Rambutan brand Five Per cent Local rice based on the preliminary result of the test carried out.

The ministry said the examination and investigation was carried out on the brand’s rice mill in Mergong, Alor Setar following viral video that claimed the rice as having plastic content.

"Several series of tests were carried out on the rice such as its resistance, iodine test to determine the starch content and the burning and cooking test,” it said in a statement today.

However, it said, a sample of the rice had been sent to the Chemistry Department for further analysis.

The statement said the inspection also found that there was no machinery found in the premises to produce the plastic rice. — Bernama
