KUANTAN, June 15 — The wife and child of Major Mohd Hasri Zahari — who was one of two pilots killed in a Hawk 108 aircraft crash yesterday morning — arrived at the Kuantan Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base yesterday night.
Asysyuhadak Ahmad and Nur Hafiya Mohd Hasri arrived here from Labuan in a special RMAF aircraft about 10.50pm and were joined by Mohd Hasri’s family members from Felda Lui Muda, Negri Sembilan.
However, the pilot’s widow and daughter were at the RMAF base for only a brief period and were seen boarding a van belonging to the RMAF, and heading to an unknown destination while awaiting completion of the autopsy on Mohd Hasri at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here.
Mohd Hasri, 31, and Major Yazmi Mohamed Yusof, 39, plunged to their deaths when the plane they were flying was believed to have crashed in a swamp forested area in Chukai, Terengganu.
Their bodies were found at 2.30pm, about 20m apart from each other, with their parachutes still on.
The aircraft reportedly took off from the RMAF base in Kuantan at 11am before losing contact about 30 minutes later.
It is understood the remains of the pilots will be taken to the RMAF Kuantan surau for prayers after the post-mortem.
Mohd Hasri is expected to be buried in Felda Lui Muda, Negri Sembilan while Yazmi will be laid to rest at the Titiwangsa Cemetrey in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow. — Bernama
