PETALING JAYA, June 13 ― A survey found that Malaysian fathers are among those who often received nothing for Father’s Day.

The study was done among countries like Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

According to The Star, the study, by vacation rental company HomeAway, found that family holidays, dinner or tech gadgets topped the wish list of dads for Father’s Day.

"When asked about the gifts they had received over the years, it was shocking that half of the dads surveyed said they had most commonly received nothing for Father’s Day,” the company said in a statement.

According to the survey, more than 70 per cent of Malaysian fathers surveyed hoped to travel more with their loved ones, while over 30 per cent admitted that they put in more effort into celebrating Mother’s Day compared to Father’s Day.

The survey also found that over 20 per cent do not celebrate Father’s Day.

Majority of dads in Singapore and Hong Kong, however, cited their busy schedules and affordability as two major hindrances to travelling more with their family.

Father’s Day will be celebrated this Sunday, June 18.
