"From our investigations, one of the suspects admitted to punching the victim who was giving out dates at the bazaar while another suspect confessed to pushing others,” he was quoted as saying by the Berita Harian news portal.

"Four more suspects are being sought and will be detained shortly to assist in this case.”

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing harm.

Although the report did not identify the victim, Liew and his group were reportedly accosted while at the bazaar yesterday.

DAP MP Gobind Singh Deo earlier demanded that police act over the incident, and suggested they investigate the attempt to prevent Lim from meeting his constituents using laws that punish actions detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
