KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 ― PAS said today it plans to have more engagement sessions with liberal groups to hear their grouses with regards to Islam.

The party's deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said if more dialogues are held, a better understanding would be achieved and there won't be animosity between both parties.

"More dialogues and discussions should be held. We can tolerate anything that doesn't go against Islamic principles," he told reporters today when met at the sidelines of an event.

Tuan Ibrahim explained that such discussions on various topics can be facilitated between PAS and liberal groups through universities, mufti's, NGOs and research institutions in the country.

The senior Islamist party leader however stressed that discussions pertaining to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) groups will not be entertained as it was against Islamic principles.

"But the LGBT issues cannot be discussed as it conflicts with Islamic principles. We cannot defend immoral values.

"We can be free in our thinking but if it goes against principles, it cannot be allowed. If the principles are broken, the country will be destroyed," Tuan Ibrahim stressed.
