KUCHING, June 7 — The Sarawak Election Commission (EC) has confirmed that seven sets of nomination forms for the Pujut state by-election have been bought as at yesterday (June 6).
Sarawak EC director Datuk Takun Sunggah, however, did not reveal the identities of the buyers or parties involved.
"Four sets were bought in Miri while the remaining three sets were bought in Kuching,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Nomination is on June 20 and polling on July 4.
The Pujut state by-election was called after the incumbent Dr Ting Tiong Choon of DAP was disqualified as a member of the state assembly on May 12.
In the 11th state election held on May 11 last year, Dr Ting won with a 1,759 vote majority, defeating three other opponents namely Datuk Hii King Chiong (BN), Jofri Jaraiee (PAS) and Fong Pau Teck (Independent). — Bernama
