Pizza Hut: Non-Muslim not seated as outlet was full
Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — The Pizza Hut Malaysia outlet that allegedly would not serve non-Muslims until 8.30pm had been unable to accommodate more patrons, the fast food chain explained today.

Sharing its findings on a Twitter user's claim that non-Muslims were denied service at the outlet, Pizza Hut Malaysia said patrons had not been discriminated against on religious grounds.

"We treat all our customers equally on a first-come, first-serve basis. Every customer is important to us, regardless of personal background,” it said in a statement.

"At this point of time, our investigation shows our staff communicated that the customer could not be seated because the restaurant was fully occupied at that time.”

Pizza Hut Malaysia also said it could not proceed with further investigations as the complainant was not responding to its attempts to get clarification.

In her initial tweet, user @AiswaryaAshln wrote that she was told upon entering the Pizza Hut outlet at an unnamed location that non-Muslims may not eat there until the appointed time.

When prompted by another user yesterday, Pizza Hut Malaysia said it would investigate the incident.

A check of the @AiswaryaAshln account showed that the woman considered the matter closed as the chain had apologised.
