KOTA KINABALU, June 5 — Former Labuan Public Works director Ismail Che Ros was charged in the Sessions Court here with two counts of accepting golf package and cash, involving RM7,880.90 two years ago.

However, Ismail, 60, pleaded not guilty to both the charges before judge Abu Bakar Manat.

On the first count, he was alleged to have received valuable things, in the form of accommodation and golf packages at Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu, worth RM2,880.90, from one Teoh Hon Chun, whose company he knew had connection with his official function .

He was also charged with accepting RM5,000 from Teoh on Aug 6, 2015.

The offences were allegedly committed in a room at Sutera Harbour Resort.

Ismail was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code and faced an imprisonment for up to two years, or fine, or both, if found guilty.

He was allowed bail of RM10,000 in one surety and also ordered to surrender his passport to the court, as well as to report himself at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Putrajaya every month.

The court also set July 17 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor from MACC Rozana Abdul Hadi prosecuted, while Ismail was represented by lawyer Zahir Shah. — Bernama
