Ali Hamsa: Nik Azman appointed new EPU director-general

PUTRAJAYA, June 5 — Deputy Director-General (Policy) of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid has been appointed the new Director-General of EPU effective June 7.

Announcing this today, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said the appointment of Nik Azman, 58, who obtained his Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Applied Economics from Universiti Malaya and Masters in Economics from University of Nebraska, United States, would be effective June 7.

"I believe with his knowledge, experience and credibility, Nik Azman can perform his responsibilities effectively and continue EPU’s mission in managing the national socio-economic development strategically,” he said.

Nik Azman has been with the civil service for more than 34 years since joining the Administrative and Diplomatic Service on January 3, 1983.

He is experienced in the field of economic analysis and financial management and had served in various capacities including as Senior Assistant Director, Budget Management Division in the Finance Ministry, and as Director of the Regional Economic Section, EPU.

 

Ali also conveyed the government’s appreciation and thanks to Datuk Seri Dr Rahamat Bivi Yusoff for her contributions and service during her tenure as EPU Director-General for more than five years. — Bernama
