BAGAN DATUK, June 3 — The Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (Yapeim) has allocated RM10 million for the ‘Inspirasi Ramadan, Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)’ programmes this year.
Its director-general, Datuk Abibullah Samsudin, said the allocation would be channelled for the use of 181,899 students and 3,423 schools nationwide.
"The Ramadan programme, involves an allocation of RM2.6 million and will benefit 22,320 recipients. For UPSR, RM3.7 million has been allocated for 80,691 people and 1,903 schools and for SPM, RM3.7 million has been set aside for 78,888 people and 1,520 schools,” he said during the launch of Yapeim’s national level ‘Inspirasi Ramadan, UPSR and SPM’ programme here today.
The programme was launched by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament.
According to Abibullah, the allocation focus on the target group, namely, orphans, the poor and the underprivileged.
"The contribution is to assist underachieving rural students sitting for UPSR and SPM. Thus, we hope that they will excel in their examinations to be on par with outstanding students,” he added. — Bernama
