BUTTERWORTH, MAY 27 — A heavy early morning downpour caused several areas here to be hit by flash floods.

The deluge lasted from 3am to 7am with Taman Senangin, Kampung Main Road, Taman Kepar and Taman Supreme the worst affected.

Permatang Pauh MIC Youth chief M.Suresh said told reporters that he made a round to the affected areas and that water had risen to the level of the knees at some of the houses.

A Taman Senangin resident, Wong Tiew Hwa , 48, said flash floods had become a norm there and that this year alone his house had been flooded three times.

However, it is understood there were no evacuations and that the floodwaters receded by 11am. — Bernama
