KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 ― A 22-year-old man suspected of aiding the robbery of a pregnant Uber passenger earlier this week has been arrested in Johor.

Serdang deputy police chief Superintendent Lee Wai Leong said the man was caught at a highway rest stop in Pagoh at about 11pm last night following a tip-off, The Star Online reported today.

The policeman said the man from Kulim in Kedah was found to have a criminal record and is under a seven-day remand that expires May 31, adding that a black-coloured car has also been seized.

Police are now on the trail of a second man who sat beside the Uber driver during the fateful ride for pregnant Wong Mei Yan, 26, last Monday night.

Lee was reported saying the suspected robber was identified based on CCTV footage.

Wong, a sales assistant, was reported to have been robbed at knifepoint by the man who sat beside the driver during her 9.30pm ride from Mid Valley to Puchong.

She was reported to have been dropped off at the roadside near Koi Kinrara nearly an hour later, some 5km from where she was relieved of her belongings.

She then tried to flag down passing motorists and was rescued by sales executive Eddy Ong who took her to a police station to report the robbery.
