JAIS detains 36 individuals believed to be Islam Jemaah members

SHAH ALAM, May 20 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) detained 36 individuals including a teacher and and his followers for allegedly being members of a deviant group, Islam Jemaah, in a raid on a house in Kampung Tok Muda, Klang near here yesterday.

JAIS director Datuk Haris Kasim said, the men, aged between 17 and 60, were arrested around 10.30pm following intelligence work conducted by the department’s Enforcement Division.

They were released under JAIS’ surety after their statements were recorded.
