KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — Umno will take up the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) call for the party to be role models in fighting graft, said Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim.

The Umno supreme council member expressed his support for the call, saying transparency was a reflection of the public’s will.

"Cooperation between Umno and the MACC will certainly bring exciting results. GERAH is not only an effective preventive mechanism but also the eyes and ears especially against the corruption menace in political parties,” he said in a statement.

The MACC made the call this week when urging Umno to support its Anti-Corruption Revolution Movement (GERAH).

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad previously called the movement an attempt to trigger a social revolution among the people to hate corruption and abuse of power.
