KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — A masseuse was fined RM4,000 in default seven months’ jail by the Ampang Magistrate’s Court here today for offering sexual service in a beauty salon.
Magistrate Haslinda A. Raof handed down the sentence on Loo Suat Hoon, 46, after she pleaded guilty to soliciting for the purpose of engaging in prostitution in a beauty centre at Jalan Pandan Indah 2/2, here at 7.30pm on March 20.
She was charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of one year or a fine, or both, if convicted.
Based on the facts of the case, the police had conducted a raid at the centre after the accused was suspected to be a victim under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act.
However, investigations revealed that she was not a victim but was offering sexual service.
In mitigation, the accused who was unrepresented pleaded for minimum fine but deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Amin Zuhaini Mahamad urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence as a lesson to the accused. — Bernama
