ALOR SETAR, April 30 — PAS leaders are clean and scandal-free unlike counterparts with former allies PKR and DAP, PAS Youth delegate Hishamuddin Abdul Karim said today.
Speaking while debating the president's policy speech during the PAS Muktamar here today, Hishamuddin, who is also Tepoh assemblyman in Terengganu, said that the Kelantan state government is an example of a "clean government”.
"We have seen the PKR Youth leader arrested by the Malaysians Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The Penang chief minister is involved in a cheap bungalow scandal,” he said.
"But we do not have any scandals. That shows we have leaders of high integrity,” he added.
Ampang PKR Youth leader Datuk Adam Rosly was charged with six counts under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 last week.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was charged with corruption over the purchase of his home for allegedly below market price and related to a land rezoning approval issued by his office.
Hishamuddin also said that PAS leaders are not "cowards” as the party’s members had "spilled blood” before the Memali incident in 1985, in which 14 villagers were killed during a police siege.
He also cited the Lubok Merbau incident in the same year where PAS election workers were badly injured after being assaulted by unidentified individuals during the Padang Terap by elections that year.
