Malaysia Airlines plane skids in Sibu, no one hurt

KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 ― A Malaysia Airlines flight MH2718 skidded upon landing at the Sibu airport in Sarawak tonight and all 67 people on board are safe.

The flag carrier said the 10.17pm incident happened during heavy rain in Sibu.

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft was carrying 61 passengers and six crew members and had departed from Kuala Lumpur international airport.

"All onboard safely disembarked via two slide rafts. No injuries have been reported so far,” the airline said in a statement on its Facebook page.

It added that it has launched an immediate investigation to find out the cause of the skidding.
