Hefty fine for student with secret society tattoo

PETALING JAYA, April 5 — A private college student was fined RM2,000 in default three months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today for having tattoos symbolising the triad gang 24.

Magistrate Salamiah Salleh meted out the sentence to M.E. Sarath Kumar, 22, after he pleaded guilty to committing the offence at Don’t Tell Mom Bistro & Cafe in Jalan USJ 21/6, Subang Jaya near here, at 1.30am on March 2.

The student paid the fine.

Deputy public prosecutor Mary Phoon Keat Mee prosecuted while counsel Mohd Shazwan Mohd Hassan represented the accused. — Bernama
