‘Superman’ gets two days’ jail, fined RM5,500 for reckless riding

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — ‘Superman’ brought down to earth! A motorcyclist who rode his machine ‘ala superman’ was sentenced to two days’ jail and fined RM5,500 in default two months’ jail by the Traffic Magistrate’s Court here today.

The jail sentence on jobless Muhammad Najmi Ahmad Martazor, 24, who pleaded guilty to dangerous riding, was ordered to begin from the day of his arrest yesterday.

Muhammad Najmi was charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for riding a motorcycle recklessly in ‘superman mode’ and endangering himself and others on the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) at 11.30pm on April 2.

Earlier, prosecuting officer, Inspector Hashimah Hashim urged magistrate Maizatul Munirah Abdul Rahman to impose a deterrent sentence.

Muhammad Najmi, who was unrepresented pleaded for a light sentence, citing his jobless status. — Bernama
