KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 — A technician pleaded guilty in the High Court here today to two counts of promoting terrorist activity and being in possession of items related to Daesh militant group.
Ahmad Faris Zulkefli, 21, made the plea after the charges were read to him before Judge Datuk Azman Abdullah.
However, the court will hear the facts of the case before meting the sentence tomorrow.
Ahmad Faris committed the first offence via the WeChat application, under the name of ‘Pak Kodi’ and using ‘mujahidin333’ as the WeChat ID, at his home at Kelumpuk Teratai 16, Jalan 5/56 AU3, Keramat here, between June 9 and July 30 2016.
Under Section 130G(a) of the Penal Code, he could be imprisoned for up to 30 years and can also be fined.
Ahmad Faris also admitted to being in possession of a black shirt with ‘Jawi’ writings, as well as images related to the Daesh militant group saved on his Mini Ipad at 10.45 am at the same place on Aug 29 last year.
For that, he is facing imprisonment of up to seven years, or fine.
