SINGAPORE, March 12 ― Two motorcyclists who were killed in an accident involving nine motorcycles and a van this afternoon were Malaysians.

In the crash at the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE), the Malaysian Chinese aged 34 and 50 died on the spot.

At Presstime, their identities were not available.             

According to sources, six other motorcyclists who sustained head and body injuries in the crash were also Malaysians and were sent to the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

"The other motorcyclist escaped injuries. The 25-year-old van driver is a Singaporean,” the sources told Bernama.

Earlier, the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore said it was waiting for an update from the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

In its update on Facebook, the SPF said the van driver was detained to facilitate investigations, adding that the man's driving licence would be suspended with immediate effect.

At 3.49pm, the SPF said it was alerted to the accident along BKE towards Woodlands after the Seletar Expressway exit. ― Bernama
