KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 ― Malaysia Airlines held today a private remembrance ceremony on the third anniversary of the disappearance of Flight MH370.
The national carrier also said it stood by any decision made by Malaysia, Australia and China in the investigation and search for the missing plane after the international hunt in the southern Indian Ocean was suspended in January.
"MAS remains hopeful that the search for MH370 will resume should the investigation team become aware of any credible lead that warrants this step being taken.
"MAS would like to restate its commitment to keep NOKs (next-of-kin) informed of developments and information updates relating to the flight MH370 tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy,” said MAS in a statement.
The private remembrance ceremony was held at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, attended by the airline’s employees and family members of the 13 staff onboard Flight MH370.
"The event honoured the memory of the 13 staff and crew members with a prayer, a minute of silence as well as a video tribute to former colleagues,” said MAS.
The Malaysian ICAO Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team for MH370 released its third interim statement on the investigation of the plane’s disappearance today, saying it was difficult to determine why the plane diverted from its route as the aircraft wreckage and flight recorders have yet to be found.
"On the release of the Interim Statement by the Bureau of Air Accident Investigation (BSKU) today, MAS would like to thank the investigation team for all the work it has done thus far. The airline has worked very closely with the Malaysian Safety Investigation team and given its full cooperation,” MAS said in response.
Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. It has yet to be found save for some debris.
