HULU TERENGGANU, Feb 18 ― The state government has denied a claim by a Terengganu paralympic athlete he was neglected despite bringing glory to the state with national and international successes.                

State Youth, Sports and Human Resource Committee chairman Datuk Rozi Mamat said the state government had assisted in terms of the athlete's food and drinks and other provisions with an allocation of almost RM100,000.

"The state government also gave incentives to those who won medals at the  2016 Sarawak Malaysia Games (Sukma) recently,” he told reporters at the Mung Belia Nelang here yesterday.

He was commenting on allegations of second class treatment of the state government towards paralympic athletes in swimming and triathlon, Subki Ariffin, 36, who is now 22nd in the world in the PT3 category.

Rozi, who is also Telemong State Assemblyman, in the meantime, added that the state government was committed in helping in the development of paralympic athletes from Terengganu to ensure they would continue to make a name for themselves in the sports they ventured into. ― Bernama
