KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 — Police have caught the woman who was captured by surveillance cameras at KLIA2 when the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was allegedly assassinated.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed that the Vietnamese passport holder was the woman shown on the surveillance footage.

Malay Mail earlier obtained photographs of the woman who is believed to be one of two assassins who fatally poisoned Kim Jong-nam yesterday.

"She was in possession of a Socialist Republic of Vietnam travel document.

"Suspect was positively identified from the CCTV footage at the airport and was alone at the time of the arrest,” Khalid said in a statement.

The woman, who was travelling under the name Doan Thi Huong, had returned to the airport in an attempt to catch a flight to Vietnam and was then arrested.

Khalid also said that investigations into the death of the North Korean man the police know only as "Kim Chol”, 46, according to his passport, were ongoing.

World media however have reported that Jong-nam had been caught travelling using aliases and fake passports previously.

Jong-nam had been the anointed successor to the late North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il, but lost his place in the succession after he was caught sneaking out of North Korea to visit the Disneyland in Tokyo, Japan in 2001.

His spot then went to current head of the ironically named Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un, who is his half-brother.

Jong-nam became an outspoken critic of his familial dynasty after he was cast out, but had repeatedly denied any intention to reclaim his place in its power structure.

He died en route to hospital Monday after he was allegedly poisoned by the two women at the KLIA2.
