Cops nab 19-year-old for making offensive remark against Tunku Ismail

JOHOR BARU, Feb 13 — Police have arrested a 19 year-old male for allegedly making an offensive remark against the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the suspect was arrested in this city at 3.25 pm yesterday following a police report that he used WhatsApp to make an offensive remark.

"Police have seized a SIM card believed used by the suspect to make the offensive remark,” he said in a statement here, today.

The case is investigated under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a fine of not more RM50,000 or jail not more one year or both, upon conviction. — Bernama
