KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 26 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) vice-president Datuk Hamidah Osman said today she had no hand in the alleged removal of Anina Saadudin as chairman of the party’s women’s wing amid questions over its existence.
In a posting on her Facebook page last night, the former Perak state executive council member denied that she had pulled the strings in order to gain leadership of the wing — also called Srikandi in Malay — for either herself or her younger sister, Hamizura Osman.
"[It] is impossible for me who has been appointed the vice-president to want to hold two vice-president posts at the same time. This can never happen, and it is just impossible altogether. The party would not allow such a situation to happen,” Hamidah wrote.
She also said it was impossible for siblings to be office-bearers in the party at the same time, adding that her younger sister lacked political experience to hold a leadership position.
Hamidah also took the chance to reply to an allegation that she had siphoned funds from Tekun, a government agency which offers loans for business expansions, which she previously led when she was in Umno.
She challenged her detractors to file a report with the relevant authorities, adding that the enforcers would be "highly interested” in such cases.
Anina was named Srikandi chairman on November 2 in the same ceremony where PPBM announced its supreme leadership council members.
However, PPBM information chief Datuk Kamarudin Md Nor now claims the wing has never had a chairman, causing confusion over Anina’s role in the Srikandi wing.
