PUTRAJAYA, Dec 21 — An AirAsia flight from Chennai suffered a deflated tyre upon landing at KL International Airport 2 (KLIA2) early today, according to the budget airline.

However, all passengers and crew were safe and had disembarked from Flight AK12, it said in a statement. AirAsia’s scheduled flight from Chennai overnight lands at KLIA2 at about 6am.

"We apologise for the discomfort experienced by our guests,” the airline said.

Following the incident, Runway 3 at klia2 was closed for recovery work and reopened at 12.30pm.

Airport operator Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, in a Facebook post, said the repairs were done as soon as the aircraft had been towed away.

"As this is a busy period for the airport, our priority was to minimise inconvenience to airlines and passengers and to get Runway 3 operational in the quickest time possible,” it said.

Malaysia Airports said it had also reported the incident to the Department of Civil Aviation. — Bernama
