KULAI, Dec 19 — Auxiliary police agencies are asked to boost security measures at the armoury so that they would not be exposed to attacks by IS terrorists, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
He said these terrorist groups were not only targeting public places but also police units including the auxiliary police.
As such, he said, auxiliary police must not only adhere to the standard operating procedure (SOP) on the strong rooms or armoury but also ensure that security patrols in these areas were enhanced.
"So, I remind the auxiliary police to always be wary and careful because they too can become targets, including the weapons armoury which must be given priority in ensuring that they don’t fall into the hands of enemies such as IS supporters,” he told reporters after closing the 28th Conference of the Malaysian Auxiliary Police, here today.
As such, he had asked several inspectorate teams from the Firearms Licensing Unit to come down and inspect the SOP to ensure that they were fully complied with whether in terms of firearms storage or handling. — Bernama
