KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 ― The political understanding between Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and PAS will no longer exist if the former chooses to forge an alliance with Pakatan Harapan (PH), PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said.

This comes after the opposition pact invited PPBM for a meeting on December 13 to discuss a collaboration for the next general election.

"Principally, if they go to the other side, they will not have any relationship with us,” he told reporters after attending a forum on corruption organised by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He however refused to rule out future cooperation with the Umno splinter party, citing the PAS-PKR alliance as example.

"This is not an ultimatum, but a precondition if they want to be with us,” he said.

He added that PPBM has the right to form a cooperation with PH and the Islamist party cannot dispute it.

"They have the option to be with Pakatan Harapan... the relationship with us will no longer be the same but perhaps it can be in other forms,” he said.

PAS previously said DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) were the stumbling block in forming a grand coalition with PPBM and PKR.

PAS has broke, off ties with DAP, which together with Amanah and PKR, form Pakatan Harapan.
