LABUAN, Dec 5 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has released a senior Labuan federal government agency director after an 11-day remand to assist the investigation into development projects.

An MACC source told Bernama the investigation was going on into a RM12-million Labuan food court being built in Tanjung Purun as well as building and infrastructure projects valued at RM48 million in Labuan.

The 59-year-old director was arrested on November 21, along with two contractors in their 40s. The contractors were released on November 25. The director was remanded further on November 29.

"Our investigation continues despite the director’s release. We can call him if we feel there is a need to so,” the source said.

The MACC has frozen 12 bank accounts of the director which had a total of RM899,000 believed to be part of the alleged millions of ringgit garnered through corruption.

The MACC has listed 26 people, including six government servants, to assist in the investigation. — Bernama
