SINGAPORE, Dec 4 — A man suspected to be involved in supplying sizeable quantities of heroin to drug traffickers in Singapore was arrested in Malaysia on Friday, following a joint investigation by the Royal Malaysian Police’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) and Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

The Malaysian man, described as "very elusive” by CNB Director Ng Ser Song, and 14 of his associates were arrested by the NCID. About 27kg of heroin and cash amounting to about RM290,000 were also seized.

CNB said in a statement today that it shared timely intelligence with NCID, "so as to allow NCID to conduct their investigations into the drug activities of the 30-year old Malaysian drug supplier, who was based in Johor”.

CNB’s investigations found that the suspect was believed to be involved in the supply of heroin to local drug traffickers.

In conjunction with NCID’s operation, CNB also conducted two operations on Thursday and Friday, arresting three local drug traffickers and seizing a total of about 3kg of heroin and 450g of cannabis. The haul of drugs is estimated to be more than S$225,000 (RM706,225).

CNB’s Mr Ng said: "The fight against drugs is getting more complex by the day. However, with NCID’s close and firm support, we are confident of continuing the good fight against the drug scourge, which continues to inflict untold harm upon society.” — TODAY
