KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 ― Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s recent agreements with his former political foes have raised eyebrows from some Malaysian political enthusiasts on the Internet.

One blogger who goes by the nom-de-plume Lim Sian See has even compiled a list of the 91-year-old’s extraordinary about-turn, claiming they "have puzzled friends and foes alike”.

In a post dated yesterday, the anonymous blogger pointed out that Dr Mahathir has reversed his stand on at least six issues that he denounced while in power: street demonstrations are necessary; Malaysians must support Bersih; Malaysia will be bankrupt; the depreciation of the ringgit signals Malaysia is bankrupt; Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak must step down from office; and an authoritarian government causes the people to suffer.

"He has made so many that we can only speculate what else more in future where he would make similar U-turns in support of DAP"s stand,” the blogger wrote.

He then posed the question if Dr Mahathir would next agree with the DAP’s push for a "Malaysian Malaysia”, among several others.

"Unless Mahathir spills the beans himself, we can only speculate,” the blogger added.
