KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 — The KL Putra World Trade Centre (KL PWTC) project which will become a new landmark for the city is a symbol of Umno’s struggle and success today.

Vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said all party members must be proud of the landmark which is the outcome of the struggles inherited from earlier leaders.

"This project is our pride, even though there are many allegations, criticisms and attacks, our effort to improve what has been inherited from our predecessors will be continued.

"This is an example of how we do not run away from what is in our souls as leaders and members of Umno...I am very proud of what was launched today,” he told reporters here today.

He was speaking after the groundbreaking ceremony of the KL PWTC launched by Umno President Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the top floor of the Hentian Putra building here.

The 70-storey tower block will be developed with a floor space of 111,484 square metres opposite the PWTC and will be the new headquarters of Umno.

Meanwhile, Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said KL PWTC will be proof of the country’s progress which is the people’s pride.

"Be proud as we have done something which is more developed, better and progressive than what we started,” he said. — Bernama
