GEORGE TOWN, Nov 21 — Police are looking for five men believed to be involved in a brutal attack on a bus driver near the Bukit Tambun toll plaza on Saturday.

Musa Chotah, 52, who sustained multiple injuries, is in a critical condition in Penang Hospital.

A heart attack he suffered at the height of the assault aggravated his condition.

Seberang Perai Selatan OCPD Supt Shafee Abd Samad said police were tracking down the suspects and the getaway vehicle.

He said police had yet to ascertain a motive.

From information gathered, the attackers fled the scene in a white car, Shafee said.

In the 6.30pm incident, five men forced the bus driven by Musa to pull over by the road shoulder as it was approaching the toll plaza.

They jumped out of their car, boarded the bus and repeatedly attacked Musa.

After the assault, they got back into their car and sped off, abandoning Musa.

Police said the case was investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

Police have also arrested four men in connection with a robbery and indecent behaviour case at an apartment block in Bukit Jambul on Thursday.

George Town OCPD ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said three of the men followed a woman, in her 30s, when she got off the lift on the 28th floor.

The suspects grabbed her and behaved immorally towards her before fleeing with her handbag.

"One of them tried to pull down her pants,” he said.

"The victim begged them to let go of her bag, but they only did so after taking her mobile phone and RM40.”

Based on the victim’s report, police arrested four suspects aged between 16 and 20 in Sungai Nibong and Gelugor on Friday.

Three of them admitted to be involved in the incident, while the fourth said he was only the buyer of the stolen mobile phone.

The suspects have been remanded  until Thursday under Section 395 and 354 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and assault or use of criminal force  with intent to outrage the modesty.
