Speaking during his new autobiography launching entitled Lat: My Life and Cartoons here today, he said the book reflected important anecdotes that he went through for decades.

"The 232-page book is a treasure trove of memories, containing the story of my life, childhood moments, and photographs, emphasising the experiences and insights of my journey,” he said.

In the book, Lat explained how he became a professional cartoonist back in the 1960s, the wild years as a crime reporter in 1970s, how he travelled the world and how he navigated the heights of his fame.

A fan of Lat, Suhaina Das, 25, said she always enjoyed reading his comics and she came all the way from Penang just to attend the launching today.

"I have a collection of Datuk’s book, and now I’m here to get my new book and to be signed by the man itself,” said Suhaina with a wide smile.

In this entertaining yet surprisingly poignant memoir, Lat also reveals the influences on his work, his dedication, passion for music and the importance of his relationships with friends, family and fellow cartoonists.

Sold at RM99 nationwide, the book is available exclusively at Borders bookstores from today. — Bernama
